ブロードバンド実効品質の計測について

Abstract

高画質動画配信などブロードバンドを流れる通信量は増加の一途であり、2017年5月の総務省調査によれば前年比で30%以上増加している。しかし、エンドユーザ料金は定額制が主流であり通信量の増加は収入増に結びつかない。これまではユーザ数が増加することで設備増強が行われてきたが、市場が飽和状態に近づくにつれ投資維持が難しくなってきている。このためネットワークの混雑が懸念されており、混雑時の実効速度が注目されている。本稿は国内商用サイトの協力を得たことで、1)ユーザ側の負担なく実サービスの実効速度データを大量に取得可能であること、2)実際に収集されたデータの解析結果、の二点について報告する。

The amount of broadband traffic such as high-quality video is on the rise, and according to the survey by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications in May 2017, it increased more than 30% over the previous year. However, since the flat rate system is the mainstream for user charges, an increase in traffic does not lead to an increase in revenue. Previously, user expansion has been investing in capital investment, but as the market approaches saturation, maintaining investment is getting harder. Consequently, network congestion is a concern, and the effective speed at the time of congestion is drawing attention. Although since broadband is a complex system, it is difficult to define the effective speed and it is even more difficult to measure it.
